Photography By Hans

Hans is a local photographer who brings the world to you.  Her landscape photography is mostly from her many travels to distant lands, but you will also find some local scenes.  Hans is originally from the Netherlands, but currently resides in the Grand Rapids area.

She has come to be known as “One-shot Hans” because she generally only takes one shot of her subject and moves on to the next focal point.  Hans’ photography is also unique in the fact that she shoots her subjects with 35mm film and has no plans to switch to digital.  Her artwork can be seen in banks, doctor offices, and college hallways in the Hastings area.

Hans has a wonderful eye and the ability to capture beauty.  She is planning a trip to Germany–and I can’t wait to see what she comes back with on her film!

Hans writes:

I have only known Kim less than two months, but it did not take me long to realize how competent she is in the business she now has had for 10 years.

As I am very much a computer novice, she patiently helps me along, if and when I despair. With her help the website will get done.  I had a very bad experience [with another web designer] before I met Kim.

I trust her honesty and knowledge.

Oh, in case you are wondering–yes, she does sell prints of her beautiful photography, matted and ready for your favorite frame!  Be sure to visit www.PhotographyByHans.com to see what she has to offer!

Photographic Artistry Redesign

Photographic ArtistryAnnouncing the unveiling a redesign of Joe Sherman’s Photographic Artistry website!  We upgraded this site from a static HTML website to an interactive WordPress site and gave it a fresh, up-to-date look.

I have added videos to display galleries of photos in several sections, which helps to protect Joe’s copyrighted work, as well as giving the site some “action”.  By posting the videos on YouTube, we are taking advantage of additional potential traffic that might search on that site for photographers in the Plainwell, Michigan area.  Additionally, it adds a few additional inbound links, which are valuable for Search Engine Optimization.

To make the site even more SEO friendly, Joe will be starting a blog on the home page, giving valuable tips to his readers about photography, how to dress for senior pictures, and more.  What does blogging do for your small business?  This great article  gives Six Reasons Every Small Business Should Blog

  1. Gain Visibility as a Thought Leader
  2. Engage Customers in a Dialogue
  3. Every Blog Article is an SEO Opportunity
  4. Blogs Are Link Bait
  5. Humanize Your Brand
  6. In Google, Fresher Content = Better Website

Congratulations, Joe, on your decision to move forward with your marketing efforts and determination to ramp-up your online presence!

Thornapple Financial Center

Susan at Thornapple Financial Center took advantage of a special “current client-only” promotional offer to update the look of her website and convert it to WordPress.  WordPress is an easily-to-update user-friendly content management system that Dramatic Design has chosen as a specialty.

Direct Comparison:

tfc-oldtfcthumbAs you can see, the old site (left) looks dated and lifeless.  It was passive and static.  Now look at the newly redesigned site on the right.  What a difference!  The colors draw you in and envelope you–the green and gold play with the type of business the site describes.  It invites you to participate with comments and to spread the word with social networking!  Important announcements are conveniently located right in the sidebar, so you don’t have to hunt for them.

The new Thornapple Financial Center website also includes an email form that invites clients to sign up to receive her newsletter by email, instead of snail-mail, thus, saving her company money and perhaps saving a tree or two along the way.  Category pages allow visitors to look directly at the posts that interest them and an interactive Google map allows visitors to get direction from their location to the Thornapple Financial Center office.  This is a site for 2009!

Kim has built our website and it is fantastic!  She is professional, always has insightful ideas and is very patient with ALL of our questions.  Her prices are competitive, and more importantly you get a great return on your investment.

Baton Rouge Real Estate Appraisers

baton-rouge-real-estate-1I recently created a custom WordPress theme for Bill Cobb at Baton Rouge Real Estate Appraisers.  He needed wide outside columns to accomodate his videos and other information.  He knew exactly what he wanted and was wonderful to work with.

Bill liked his new theme so much that he asked me to create a second theme, very similar, but in blue.  Here is a screenshot of that theme:

Bill was so kind as to record this video and write the testimonial below. Thanks, Bill! You were great to work with!

“Hi, I’m Bill Cobb Appraiser in Baton Rouge working with WordPress Blogs for marketing help for my appraisal business. I had been searching online for about 6 months now trying a premium theme to use and couldn’t locate a theme I liked. I did find a Realtor’s website I really liked though. I found Kim Smith’s “Dramatic Design” on Ebay under the keyword “Wordpress” and emailed her about my search, the site I liked, my specifications I was looking for and to see if she could assist me. She said she could, so I purchased her Ebay Auction. Kim immediately went into action on my project, asked more questions about my desires for the site and went to work. The theme she designed is located @ http://www.batonrougerealestateappraisers.net/ and I am very pleased with Kim Smith’s Dramatic Design. Her price was reasonable, her attention to detail was superb, and her delivery was rather quick for a Web Design Company. I highly recommend http://www.dramatic-design.com/ .”

Be The Diva Within – Header Graphic

I just completed a blog header for Jessica at Be The Diva Within and we were both very pleased with the results.  Jessica is a fellow member of the Mom Masterminds group to which I belong.  (There’s a free 7-Day Preview, if you’re interested!)

I started out with this stock image as she requested something with butterflies and this image complimented her blog colors:

I worked a little graphic magic, added some text and came up with this:

When Jessica put this header into her blog, it looked like this:

The header was a perfect fit for the look and feel that Jessica was going for!  I’m looking forward to seeing what Jessica will be doing with this blog.  It’s exciting to see a new blog grow and develop!  It’s like a blank notebook during the “Back to School” season!  Blessings on your new endeavor, Jessica!
